2023 Silicon Valley Entrepreneurship Forum

活动简介 Description:

Great Way Trading & Transportation, Inc. 在美创业三十周年庆,组委会将此次创业论坛作为周年庆活动的一部分,把论坛从Great Way的会议室转移到了电视演播厅制作,并从中国和美国其他城市专门邀请了每个热门话题的重量级的主讲嘉宾和参会嘉宾来共襄盛举。把我们的这个小型“硅谷创业分享会”,正式升级为交流新技术、新风口和新动向、分享创业心得、促进硅谷的留美科技人士创业的“硅谷创业论坛”。

The forum gathering has been blocked for more than three years due to epidemic. Today, old friends and new friends gather together again, and everyone feels cordial and treasures such meeting in person. Same as in previous years, this forum was prepared and organized by Great Wat Trading & Transportation, Inc., sponsored by the Ke Min Foundation, and supported by the Silicon Valley Alumni Association of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC SVAA) and Ding Ding TV. Coincidentally, this year is the 30th anniversary of Great Way Trading & Transportation, Inc.’s establishment in the United States. The organizing committee has decided to upscale the forum as a part of anniversary celebrations. The forum is transferred from Great Way’s conference room to the TV studio for production and broadcast across the major English medias. Notable speakers and VIP participants of each hot topic are specially invited from China and other cities in the United States to join in the grand event. We have officially upgraded this small “Silicon Valley Entrepreneurship Sharing Session” to the upscale “Silicon Valley Entrepreneurship Forum” to reach a higher professional standard for exchanging new technologies, new outlets and new trends, sharing entrepreneurial experience, and promoting entrepreneurship in Silicon Valley for foreign scientists and technologists in Silicon Valley in the United States.

What are the new trends in e-commerce? What are the potential applications of AI and ChatGPT for companies and ventures? What are some of the latest trends in renewable energy? How is the US-China decoupling going to impact the supply chain?

Silicon Valley Entrepreneurship Forum, held at Ding Ding TV studios in Santa Clara on May 21st, brought together industry experts to discuss these key topics. Great Way Trading and Transportation, the Silicon Valley Alumni Association of the University of Science and Technology of China, and the Kemin Foundation organized the event.

Silicon Valley Entrepreneurship Sharing Conference (Ke Min Platform) was founded to commemorate the spirit of Dr. Ke Min, who passed away from a heart attack when he was 43. The Entrepreneurship Forum is a dynamic platform for entrepreneurs at all stages of their journey, from budding startups to seasoned industry veterans. By providing a space for knowledge exchange and networking, the Forum addresses hot topics in the business world and gives entrepreneurs critical tools and inspiration. This year, 2023, also marks the 30th anniversary of Great Way’s founding.

The event started with a recorded message by Mr. Fu Wei (Dr. Ke Min’s older brother).

Peter Gong (Founder, Great Way Trading and Transportation) spoke about US-China decoupling and the importance of trade. Peter Gong reflected on the company’s trading and transportation endeavors over the last three decades. Mr. Gong shared many of the company’s notable “firsts” – from the first employee to his first customer. He recounted the story of his first customer, who needed a US-made fortune cookie machine exported to China. The company’s history converged with several notable contemporary events and mirrored the growth of US-China trade and commerce. Furthermore, it is a testament to the evolving relationship between the US and China that is, at the moment, transitioning from competition to decoupling.

Diane Wang (Founder, Chairperson, and CEO, DHGate Group) has over 30 years of experience in the digital industry. Ms. Wang shared her insights on the new trends in e-commerce and the transformational impact Gen Z had on social commerce. The way goods are produced and consumed globally evolved due to the creator economy. With changing global trends, Ms. Wang recognized the need for decentralization. That is why DHGate introduced MyyShop, a one-stop social commerce platform offering innovative digital solutions for e-commerce businesses. As a female entrepreneur, Ms. Wang shared her passion for gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Scott Burton (Senior VP of US and Europe Operations, Crystal-Optech) talked about his China experience, where he touched on topics like restricted market access for non-Chinese companies and government support in building factories in China.

Dr. Stanley Wang talked about the potential of ChatGPT for various ventures and companies. His company TalkDesk uses ChatGPT for call center summaries.

Kevin Fenn (Founder and Chairperson, OSell Group) spoke about new models in e-commerce and shared case studies outlining the potential of gaming and e-commerce in expanding global trade and overcoming language barriers. Mr. Fenn also talked about the S2B2C model (supplier-to-business-to-consumer).

Yi Xu (an entrepreneur and Co-Founder of two startups) talked about AI and its evolution. Mr. Xu discussed the importance of Foundation Models in building Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

Michael Xiong (Managing Director, Vital Materials, Founder, BacX) spoke about global energy solutions. His company expanded via M&A and has production facilities in 17 countries.

Xiao-feng Li (Chief Architect, System Software, MTK) discussed the topic of operating systems in the time of AI. He posited the new generation OS must contain an AI stack that excels in accurate predictions leveraging predictive analytics.

Dr. Bo Li (CEO and Founder, EndurEnergy Systems) talked about Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS). He stressed the importance of energy storage in supporting other technological innovations.

Ron Cai (Senior Counsel, Zhong Lun Law Firm, Shanghai office) shared his insights about the Inflation Reduction Act and its tax incentives for domestic manufacturing.

Dr. Yawei Liu (Director, The Carter Center’s China Program) delivered an insightful analysis of the relationship between the US and China over the past century. He spoke about the ongoing trade war and emphasized the urgent need for collaboration on issues like climate change.

Amidst the ongoing US-China decoupling and polarizing media headlines about China, the Silicon Valley Entrepreneurship Forum provided a platform for business leaders and entrepreneurs to come together, frankly discuss challenges they are facing, and exchange knowledge and potential solutions. Likewise, it enabled the attendees to gather as a community and create new connections among their peers.
