Ding Ding TV studio burglarized – Community organization victim of a crime

Last Friday, April 26th, Ding Ding TV studio was burglarized. In the early hours of the morning, the thieves broke in through the backdoor, entered the studio and took three professional cameras, one digital lighting control panel and two audio mixers. The neighbor’s security camera caught the thieves in the act and we have submitted the evidence to the Santa Clara Police Department.

I learned of the robbery in the early afternoon while at a community event. Luckily, Mayor of Santa Clara Lisa Gillmor was in attendance and she offered help immediately. I would like to thank Mayor Gillmor and the Santa Clara Police Department for their help and prompt reaction.

In all likelihood, the thieves will not get even half of the original price of the equipment if they try to sell it. However, to us as an organization, the value of the equipment is priceless. Without it, we will not be able to produce interviews and videotape the events. And since we host over 50 events each year, it might be that thieves knew where to go and what to take.

Ding Ding TV has been serving the community for the past 15 years. We have moved to our current location in 2011. In Ding Ding TV studios, we have produced over 3000 videos and hosted over 500 events. To add insult to the injury, this crime happened just before our biggest event of the year – Asian American Stories Award Ceremony.

Rest assured, while I am shaken, I am more determined than ever to keep going, keep working, and keep serving our community.
