Yudy Deng for Palo Alto City Council Kickoff Speech

“Proud to support my friend Yudy Deng as she runs for Palo Alto City Council.
I have known Yudy for more than 15 years through her extensive community service. She has made significant contributions through organizations including the Society of Heart’s Delight (愉园社), and we served on the same organization on the Board. One quality I have always admired about Yudy is that wherever she goes, she is never someone who simply stands on the sidelines—she steps up, gets involved, organizes, and gets things done.

On August 16th, more than 200 people came out to support her campaign. Listening to Yudy’s speech, it was clear that she has done her homework. She understands the challenges facing Palo Alto residents and city government, and she is not just talking about problems—she is bringing ideas, plans, and solutions. Her commitment to improving government efficiency and making City Hall more responsive to residents was especially powerful.

It was also wonderful to see State Senator Josh Becker, Santa Clara County Supervisor Susan Ellenberg, Palo Alto city leaders, and many community leaders there supporting her.

Yudy has the energy, organizational ability, optimism, and determination to serve. I’m excited to see someone who has contributed so much to the community step forward and say, “I’m ready to do more.”
