The History of Chinese Landscape Painting at the Asian Art Center of Silicon Valley

The History of Chinese Landscape Painting — With Examples from the Collection of the Liaoning Provincial Museum

The Liaoning Provincial Museum houses a vast collection of ancient Chinese paintings. This exhibition presents 45 works, ranging from the Five Dynasties to the Qing Dynasty. Although these are high-quality reproductions, they are remarkably close to the originals and vividly illustrate the evolution of Chinese landscape painting.

Landscape painting can be seen as a representative of “naturalism,” and in China it has a long and rich history. Prof. Kao’s lecture offers a brief introduction, but everyone will be able to appreciate their historical significance through these artworks.

In addition, the Asian Art Center of Silicon Valley will host a special lecture, “The History of Chinese Landscape Painting”, on August 31 from 3:30–5:00 PM, providing further insights into the tradition and development of this unique art form.

Exhibition time – 8/16 – 9/16
Where: Silicon Valley Asian Art Center, 3777 Stevens Creek Blvd #400M, Santa Clara, CA 95051
