Ding Ding TV Report – Film Screening “Voices: Chinese Women of the Delta”
On March 22nd, the screening of “Voices: Chinese Women of the Delta” was held at the California Museum in Sacramento.
“Voices: Chinese Women of the Delta” explores the sacrifices and contributions of women immigrants from China, as told by their descendants. The film examines how marginalized and discriminated against in the wider society, Chinese women suffered further repression within the male-dominated Chinese culture. Invisible and voiceless, their own community gave them little consolation or support in a country that viewed them as aliens and granted them few rights or standing. Yet the women’s previously untold stories reveal an indomitable resilience that shaped families, communities, and the course of California history.
The screening was followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker and documentary participants.
