Ding Ding TV Report – Welcome reception for the new Deputy Consul General in San Francisco
On November 26th, The Chinese Consul General in San Francisco hosted a welcome reception and “Meet the Press” event for the new Deputy Consul General Yang Shouzheng. Present at the event was Maryam Muduroglu, Chief of Protocol, representing the office of the Mayor of San Francisco. Over 100 people, including over 20 media representatives, attended the event.
In his welcoming speech, Consul General Zhang Jianmin spoke about the relationship between the two countries and stated: “China’s position on growing its relations with the United States also remains unchanged. The historical summit between President Xi Jinping and President Biden in San Francisco in November last year, set forth a future-orientated San Francisco vision and steered China – United States relations towards more stability and improvement. A year later, the two presidents met again in Lima, Peru, where they reflected on the experiences of the past four years and charted a new course for the future of bilateral relations.”
Further, Consul General Zhang Jianmin added: “The history of the U.S. – China relations reveals a fundamental truth – when we cooperate, both sides will benefit. And when we confront with each other, both sides will suffer… Today, our two countries are deeply entwined with bilateral trade exceeding 660 billion U.S. dollars. Over 70.000 U.S. companies have investments and business presence in China, with the vast majority of them achieving success and profitability. Made-in-China products actually provide the U.S. consumer with more choice at a lower cost…
China remains committed to handling its relationship with the United States in accordance to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.”
Chief of Protocol for the office of Mayor of San Francisco Maryam Muduroglu extended a warm welcome to the new Deputy Consul General and expressed the city’s commitment to continue to deepen the relationship between San Francisco and China.
Deputy Consul General Yang Shouzheng has over 30 years of work experience in foreign service. Previously, he held posts in Chinese embassies in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Myanmar. It is his first post in the United States.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Consul General Yang Shouzheng stated that the interests of China and the United States are deeply entwined from the traditional areas like economy, trade, and energy to more emerging areas like AI. He stated: “I firmly believe that if China and the United States work together, we could make a big difference.”
Ding Ding TV spoke to Deputy Consul General Yang Shouzheng about the biggest challenge in the U.S. – China relations. He stated he believes with the joint effort of the people of the two countries and officials at various levels, peaceful and hospitable relations will be attained.
