HG Nguyen is running for San Jose City Council D-5.

HG has diverse and unique experiences working with the community.

HG was the Founding President of the Vietnamese-American Chamber of Commerce of Santa Clara Valley, and she has also co-hosted and produced a popular radio program, catering to the Vietnamese-American community in the South Bay.

In 1995, HG worked with the City of San Jose Redevelopment Agency to help beautify the East Santa Clara Street corridor, which now houses San Jose City Hall.

A few years later, the local State Assemblyman hired HG to be his Senior Consultant with responsibilities of bringing vital programs and services to the community.

In 2019, HG joined San Jose District 7 as Constituent Relations Director.

Within no time, she had successfully coordinated Homeless Encampment Abetment at several sites in the City of San Jose, and effectively resolved issues related to abandoned cars and illegally parked vans that had been severe issues faced by the neighborhood community for several years…

In addition, HG had successfully coordinated with business tenants and San Jose Police Dept. to successfully stop breaks-in and robberies in shopping plazas and bring peace and safety back to the business community in Little Saigon Corridor.

HG also Developed and coordinated food distribution at the Vietnamese American Cultural Center. especially during the pandemic.

And last but not least, she had Assisted Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Dept. with the Santa Clara County Grant Application for Thank You America Monument that soon it will be realized and installed in the Viet Heritage Garden.

In 2020, she was recruited by District 4 as Senior Council Assistant with responsibilities of delivering vital programs and services to the community. In addition, she had assisted successfully in resolving issues with building permits for both residential and commercial properties.

HG also worked in the nonprofit sector as Chief Administrative Officer of the San Jose Development Corporation. She developed, trained and advised prospective entrepreneurs.

Mayor Susan Hammer’s Silicon Valley Business Woman of the Year 1997
National Economic Development Council Award in 1997, for innovation in helping connect businesses, neighborhoods and government
Community Service Award in 1999, by the San Jose Day Nursery Board of Directors for continuing efforts in developing safe and friendly neighborhood.

Chair-Person of the First Annual Conference on Doing Business with The City of San Jose 1994
First Southeast Asian elected to the American Leadership Forum Class 9 (1997).
Selected as Spoke Person for Little Saigon Foundation in San Jose.
