BAYouth Delivers Clothes to the Homeless

Silicon Valley is home to the heart of America’s tech industry, but also home to thousands of homeless people. This community is not just multistory houses and large tech companies, but we also have to be responsible for the people living on the streets. I am a part of the Bay Area Youth Initiative (BAYouth.org), a youth-led organization dedicated to expressing the youth perspective and giving back to the community.
On Thanksgiving, a group of BAYouth students met to directly donate to the homeless lead by a long-time adult community volunteer Paul. We went out near San Jose airport, carrying tubs filled with necessities. It was such a fulfilling experience to see the gratitude from our actions, and a paradigm-shifting one as well. I saw the kindness and community that radiated from the people there, and I learned that everyone deserves to be treated with respect and compassion, because we are all humans at heart.
Thanks to Jason and Bay Area Youth Initiative. You and your team have brought hope and light to our community and set a great example for Youth.
I am so proud of the youth group for thinking of doing such a warm gesture and lending a hand to people could use little cheers during the holidays. Your act of kindness is a good reminder that no matter what we are still a community bound to each other. We can learn a lot by helping each other and we grow together at the same time while keeping a humble attitude. Thanks for coming out and spending some of your valuable time doing something worthwhile. You guys rock! Keep up the mindset.
Paul, thank you very much! You have been doing this for more than 20 years, you are the real hero behind the screen! Thank you for leading the kids to the camp on the Thanksgiving day, you are real model for the youth!
Thank you for your kind words. Even this the word Hero is a heavy one. Like Jason said he wanted to be part of the community. That’s all I ever wanted to be. No more no less. There is already enough negatives in the world. The kids and I just want to do something positive.
