Asian Women for Health (AWFH) Anti-Racism campaign

(The above video is provided by AWFH)
According to the Stop AAPI Hate Report Center, more than 1,700 incidents involving blame and racism towards Asian Americans have been recorded in the six weeks following March 19th. Since the beginning of the pandemic, many Asian Americans have suffered racist attacks, with women being three times more likely to be the victim of an attack. To fight this trend and highlight the damaging nature of racist behavior, Asian Women for Health has released this PSA as part of an Anti-Racism campaign. Asian Women for Health (AWFH) is a peer-led, community-based network dedicated to advancing Asian women’s health and wellbeing through education, advocacy, and support.  We are a diverse group of individuals working together across differences in age, ethnicity, language, sexual orientation, socio-economic and educational levels, to address individual, community-wide and systemic barriers that affect Asian women and their loved ones.  Hear our stories and support our journeys to healthier lives.
As part of our work for health and equity, we are dedicating this page to resources on the fight against racism. Black, Brown, and Indigenous people of color are harmed the most by systemic oppression, and we have a responsibility to be part of the movement for change. We provide this not as a comprehensive guide, but as a starting place on how to stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter.

Empathy during COVID-19: Addressing anti-Asian racism through restorative dialogue
This free resource by Immigrant History Initiative utilizes restorative justice dialogue circles to reflect on and discuss the causes of anti-Asian racism, which has sharply increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. As schools prepare to reopen, students will likely be exposed to toxic anti-Asian racism, which can create harmful learning environments.

TESTING

Testing is important, find a testing center through Massachusetts Department of Public Health for the closest site near you. “Information continues to evolve quickly, so [Massachusetts Department of Public Health] encourages all those looking to be tested to contact the site prior to arrival. Many sites may also require pre-screening, a referral and/or an appointment.” Take a self-assessment if you are unsure about whether you need testing (informational only; not medical diagnosis).

For any non-Massachusetts visitors, find a testing site here!
