Evan Low and Yan Zhao join growing group of Chinese and Asian American Community Leaders in supporting Josh Becker for State Senate

Assembly Member Evan Low (CA-28) and Saratoga City Council Member Yan Zhao today announced their support of Josh Becker for State Senate. Low and Zhao joined other API leaders in supporting Becker, including; Mountain view Mayor Margaret Abe-Koga, Sunnyvale Councilmember Mason Fong, Palo Alto City Councilmember Greg Tanaka, Assembly Members Phil Ting (CA-19) and David Chiu (CA-17), and Foothill-De Anza Community college board member and former Cupertino City Councilmember Gilbert Wong.

“I’m incredibly excited to support Josh Becker. I appreciate his outreach to the Chinese and Asian American communities and his leadership in education, technology, housing, and transportation” Said Assembly Member Evan Low.

“I’m proud to endorse Josh Becker because I believe in his ability to build coalitions and address tough problems” said Saratoga City Councilmember Yan Zhao

The endorsements are seen as highly strategic in District 13 which is one of California’s most diverse, with a population that is 27.7% Asian and 35% foreign born.

“I’m so proud to have the support of these incredible public officials,” said Becker. “They have led the way on healthcare, education, affordability, and housing, and I’m very eager to work with them if district 13’s voters decide to send me to Sacramento.”

“Josh’s proposals to address housing challenges, particularly his willingness to hold large corporations accountable for creating new housing units, are bold and creative. All levels of government need to be working together to create new affordable housing opportunities, and I know Josh Becker will be a strong partner with local government to address this pressing issue.” said Mountain View Mayor Margaret Abe-Koga

“I’m proud to stand with Josh Becker, who has been a leader in advocating for better schools, affordable higher education, expanded college opportunities and paying teachers the wages needed to live near where they work,” said Gilbert Wong, who serves on the Foothill-DeAnza Community College Board. “We need his voice and passion in Sacramento.”

“Josh has the experience needed to tackle issues crucial to the Asian & Pacific-Islander (API) American community such as access to a great education and affordable housing, as well as ensuring API voices and issues are heard in the State of California” said Sunnyvale Council Member Mason Fong

Palo Alto City Council Member Greg Tanaka said, “Josh understands that healthcare is a human right and that we have to do a better job of taking care of our seniors. That’s one reason why I support him.”
