Saturday, August 24, 2019  – 9:00am to 4:00pm (lunch provided)

Hyatt Regency Hotel  1333 Old Bayshore Hwy, Burlingame, CA  94010

When President Nixon and Chairman Mao Zedong met in 1972, they set the stage for what would become the world’s most important diplomatic and economic relationship. Acknowledging the significance of Nixon’s vision, President Carter granted full diplomatic recognition to the People’s Republic of China. Chinese Vice Premier Deng Xiaoping’s visit to the United States shortly thereafter opened the door to a new era of foreign relations.

This US-China Relationship Summit is meant to celebrate the past successes of the two countries’ cooperation and to explore the countless opportunities that lie ahead. Given the state of the current U.S.-China relationship, it is increasingly important to gather and reflect on the values of strengthening ties between the world’s two most competitive, yet interdependent, economies. The Summit will promote mutual understanding between both nations and look into how they can work together in shaping the future.

This summit will renew/continue the important mission of understanding and interaction between the two nations through a series of remarks from experienced, distinguished and concerned citizens from both countries.

The opening remark will be by California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis and closing remark by the representative of the Bush Family. Speakers including Vice Chairman of Peking University Council Prof. YE Jingyi 叶静漪, former US Ambassador to China Max Baucus, City of Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf.
