Jim Walker: Community Bridge Builder

Jim Walker was  The Tommy Shew Community Bridge Award winner in 2018. And he has been working in Cupertino for 50 years. Dingding TV arranged an interview with Jim to talk about his award and his work in Cupertino. Jim said he signed the contract with Steve Jobs for the first freestanding building of Apple 40 years ago. He also mentioned that he did lots of volunteer work in Cupertino, such as Rotary Project, or Medical Project.

The Tommy Shwe Community Bridge Award recognizes an individual who has contributed as a volunteer to bring people of different backgrounds together to accomplish a common goal. Tommy Shwe was the first Chinese American to be elected in Cupertino. He served on the Cupertino Union School District Board from 1985 to 1993. Shwe was also a board member of West Valley Community Services, the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce, the Foothill-De Anza Foundation and the Asian Business League of Silicon Valley, among many other public service responsibilities. He was also in Cupertino Rotary for a number of years.
